# AI3D API v2 model: tripo-smartsegment-image

Run Tripo Smart Segmentation's image pipeline, which segments an image and produces a segmented 3D model.

- AI3D model ID: `tripo-smartsegment-image` (native Tripo API, `mesh/smartsegment`, image pipeline)
- Task: `image_to_3d`
- Provider adapter: `tripo`
- Availability: listed in `GET /v2/models` when Tripo credentials are configured and `TRIPO_OPERATIONS_MODE=on`. During `canary`, it stays out of the public catalog and Playground.

Create a normal prepaid AI3D job. Do not call Tripo directly or put a provider key in a client.

Provide one public HTTPS `image_url` or upload a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image with `POST /v2/uploads` and use the returned signed URL.

`input.granularity` is `coarse`, `medium` (default), or `fine`. `input.hint` is optional and may contain up to 1,024 characters. The Playground provides image URL and local image upload controls, a granularity selector, and a hint field.

Tripo lists Smart Segmentation (Image) at 85 credits ($0.85). AI3D reserves this amount and settles from `credits_consumed`, capped at the reservation. If Tripo omits usage, AI3D charges the estimate. A provider failure releases the reservation. The generated segmented GLB and mask image are archived; the GLB opens in the 3D viewer.
